Shalan ALayan
Shalan Alayan is a Junior at Rutgers University-New Brunswick majoring in Public Policy. He’s very passionate about serving the Muslim community as he see it as a responsibility to stand up and defend our rights. He’s currently a member on the advocacy team for the Muslim Public Relations Council (MPRC) on campus. His work has mostly centered around various campaigns with most recently working on adam hamawy’s campaign in the 12th district which produced a win. His work on there included field where he would be on the ground knocking doors but also on the back end helping create those lists and help out with phone bank sessions. He’s ready to explore different avenues outside the campaign world and shift to more advocacy on a larger scope. In my free time I like to hang out with friends, go to the gym, plane spot.
Ayesha Khan
Ayesha Khan is a student at Rutgers University–Newark majoring in Public and Nonprofit Administration, with a strong passion for public service and creating meaningful opportunities to support and empower the Muslim community. She previously interned with Islamic Relief USA, where she gained experience in community engagement, events, and nonprofit work. She also served as Vice President of the Muslim Students Association at Rutgers University–Newark, helping organize programs and build a welcoming and engaged Muslim student community. She is excited to join CAIR and contribute to its mission of advocating for and empowering the American Muslim community. Through this experience, She’s looking forward to growing professionally, learning from the CAIR team, and using her skills to make a meaningful impact.
Afsara Ahmed
Fatimah Abbassi is a junior at William Paterson University, majoring in Political Science and Honors Social Sciences with a minor in Psychology, Legal Studies, and Social Justice. Deeply committed to advocacy, equity, and civic engagement, she serves as President of both the Muslim Student Association and Students for Justice in Palestine Fatimah also serves as Vice President of the Student Life Committee within the Student Government Association, working to enhance the student experience and advance meaningful policy changes. Passionate about community empowerment and representation, Fatimah has led efforts to increase cultural awareness on campus, including advocating for Arab Heritage Week and more inclusive dining options and more! In her free time, she enjoys painting, drawing, and spending time with friends. Fedah Mohammad
Fedah Mohammad Fedah Mohammed is a second-year law student at Rutgers Law School in Newark and a first-generation law student. The daughter of Palestinian immigrants who came to the United States in pursuit of greater opportunities for their children, Fedah’s upbringing has deeply shaped her commitment to advocacy, service, and justice.
She has long been passionate about human rights and advocating for individuals and communities whose voices are too often marginalized or overlooked. As a law student, Fedah is particularly interested in using her legal education to protect civil rights, advocate for Muslim Americans, and help ensure that individuals are treated with dignity and fairness. She hopes to build a legal career grounded in service, community empowerment, and meaningful advocacy.
