Jim Sues

Executive Director

Jim Sues’s experience and capabilities he brings from his years of technical marketing at IBM to provide a unique perspective to the position of Executive Director. In addition, Br. Jim’s activities in the areas of interfaith relations and community involvement bring a depth of experience that is essential to CAIR-NJ.  His experience as a civil rights activist and his passion for justice provides CAIR-NJ with a valuable asset.


Communications Director

Br. Abdul-Alim Mubarak-Rowe brings unique skill sets to his position as Communications Director, having worked as a journalist, news editor, and educator.  For 30 years he worked in television as an editor, cameraman, and producer.   In addition, Br. Abdul-Alim has extensive experience as a teacher and lecturer in the field of Religious History and Comparative Religion, and is very active in the local community.

Jay Rehman

Civil Rights Attorney

Jay is a first generation born American of Pakistani immigrant parents. He holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Hospitality Management from New York University. After graduating college, he transitioned into politics in campaign finance. He served first as Finance Assistant for a Democrat in the 11th District of New York, and then as the Deputy Finance Director for the first Indian American woman to run for Congress in the 12th District of New York. He attended law school and received his Juris Doctorate from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in Central Islip, Long Island. Prior to joining CAIR New Jersey he practiced in commercial litigation and transactional real estate. Jay is admitted in both the New York and New Jersey bars.
staff Sara Sheikh

Office Manager/Paralegal

Born in Canada to Pakistani immigrants and raised in the United States, Sara draws on a diverse background.  She holds a Bachelor of Honors degree from Carleton University in law.  Sara is passionate about civil rights, which lead her to join CAIR New Jersey in 2017.  She spoke on behalf of CAIR New Jersey at a vigil where she condemned hatred.   

Sara resides in Clinton, New Jersey with her family.

staff Soofia Tahir

Director of Development

A native New Jerseyan, Soofia’s deep passion for charitable work led her to pursue her MSW from Rutgers. The global imbalance of resources and social injustices inspired her to pursue this field. Now a member of the CAIR-NJ family, she is dedicated to advocating for civil liberties and justice. Soofia also spends time throughout the year planning MYCC Summer Camp and believes investing in our children is investing in our future. As Walt Disney once said, “Our greatest natural resource is the minds of our children.”
