CAIR-NJ Condemns Fatal Shooting of Charlie Kirk in Utah, Calls for End to Hateful Rhetoric
(NEWARK, NJ, 9/11/25) – The New Jersey chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NJ), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk in Utah, offered condolences to his family and called for an end to the hateful rhetoric that has led to abhorrent political violence.
In a statement, CAIR-NJ said:
“We strongly condemn the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk in Utah. We extend our condolences to Mr. Kirk’s family, and we hope that law enforcement apprehends the person responsible as quickly as possible.
“We obviously had fundamental disagreements with Mr. Kirk’s rhetoric about Americans and others of various races, faiths, cultures and backgrounds. The values that led us to oppose many of Mr. Kirk’s stances are the same values that lead us to condemn his murder and reaffirm that political violence is not the answer to even the most hateful rhetoric.
“Political violence occurs far too often to people on all sides of debates in our nation, and such violence must end now.”
CAIR has consistently spoken out against political violence, regardless of the identity or beliefs of its victims.
