CAIR-NJ to Join Lobby Day for Same-Day Voter Registration
(PLAINFIELD, NJ, 5/25/2022) – On May 26, the New Jersey chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NJ) will join a coalition of more than 30 pro-democracy organizations for a lobby day at the statehouse in Trenton to urge the passage of legislation that would establish same-day voter registration in the New Jersey.
Assembly Bill 1966/Senate Bill S247 would establish same-day voter registration in New Jersey, including on election day.

In a statement, CAIR-NJ Executive Director Selaedin Maksut said:
“Voting should be made easy. It is essential that we expand access to the ballot to ensure a fair and health democracy. We urge Muslims and all residents from across New Jersey to rally in Trenton on May 26 to urge lawmakers to pass Same-Day Voter Registration.”
