Job Title: Programs Manager 

Schedule Type: Part-time, Non-Exempt  

Location: Onsite  

Pay Range: $18-20 hourly. Part-Time (3 Days weekly)  


The Council on American-Islamic Relations, New Jersey office (CAIR-NJ) is looking for a qualified, passionate, and talented individual to fill the Programs Manager position. We are seeking individuals interested in working on the front lines of the fight for the civil rights of American Muslims. Join a small and intimate but quickly growing team that works to defend civil rights on behalf of the American Muslim community, promote civic engagement, strengthen the image of Islam and Muslims in the media, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.  



The Programs Manager will develop programming relating to advocacy, organizing, communications, and outreach for New Jersey’s Muslim community. Funds development and giving campaigns is a secondary responsibility. Offer support to CAIR-NJ staff for relevant initiatives related to office development and programing. The Programs Manager will report directly to the Executive Director as they develop each community-oriented project.  


Strategy, Vision, and Leadership 

  • Work with the Executive Director to ensure that the organization’s legal, advocacy, and programmatic strategies align with CAIR-NJ’s mission and vision 

  • Implement a strategic plan to further CAIR-NJ’s statewide presence by expanding on programs and increasing CAIR-NJ’s visibility across key stakeholder audiences 

  • Support organization-wide planning, development, and communication activities, and ensure adherence to CAIR-NJ’s mission and vision 

  • Thoughtfully and proactively identify emerging issues and challenges facing the organization 



Duties & Responsibilities 

Community Programing: 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Muslim organizations, MSAs, youth groups, civil rights non-profits, and other organizations to increase outreach 

  • Work with the Executive Director in the promotion and delivery of CAIR-NJ programs for various departments (legal, advocacy, communications, etc.)  

  • Develop educational programming to be offered to community centers  

  • Organize community-oriented events and programing including banquets, interactive workshops, training sessions, forums, roundtable discussions, etc.  

  • Conduct outreach with community organizations though tabling 

  • Maintain and distribute marketing and educational material  

  • Other relevant tasks as assigned 



  • Coordinate and draft fundraising mailers and online giving campaigns 

  • Research and apply for potential funding opportunities – including but not limited to sponsorships, private foundations, grants, and corporate giving programs.  

  • Partner with colleagues across the CAIR network on shared resource development 



  • Bachelor’s degree required  

  • Relevant experience required  

  • Flexibility to adjust and contribute to continually evolving work situation and changing priorities 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 

  • Strong verbal communication skills 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with high degree of professionalism 

  • Self-directed individual, strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple ongoing initiatives 

  • Familiarity, knowledge and experience working with the American Muslim community 




  • $18-$20 per hour 

  • Compensation commensurate with education, skills and experience

  • Flexible hours (with Fridays mostly off)
