IF IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT STOPS YOU
At home
- Do not immediately open the door if an immigration agent is knocking.
- Do not answer any probing questions about yourself or others, you have the right to remain silent.
- Do not sign anything without speaking to a lawyer first, you have the right to consult an attorney.
Outside of Home
- Ask the immigration agent if you are free to leave. If they say yes, walk away calmly.
- To communicate all of your rights, give the agent your physical Immigration Red Card provided by CAIR-NJ and NJSBF. If you are inside your home, show the card through the window or slide it under the door.
