
Hajar Fouad
Hajar Fouad is a rising junior at Seton Hall University majoring in Business Administration with concentrations in Economics and Marketing and minoring in Legal Studies. On campus she is the Secretary of Scholars for Syria, a club that spreads awareness about the conflict in Syria. She is very excited to be an intern at CAIR NJ this summer and contribute as much as she can to the organization.

Asmaa Ashraf
Asmaa Ashraf is a senior at Rutgers University Newark, pursuing a degree in Political Science and Peace and Conflict Studies. Asmaa is also a CompTIA Certified Cybersecurity Analyst (CYSA+) with a deep passion for human rights and social justice. She also recently became an editor for Falestine Magazine. She is excited for her new role as a Government Affairs intern where she will advocate for her fellow Muslims’ civil rights, and hopes to further establish her career in advocacy for the Muslim community and other marginalized groups. Asmaa aspires to become a voice for those whose voices are suppressed.

Asmaa Ashraf
Amna is a rising senior at Rutgers-New Brunswick double majoring in Political Science and Human Resource Management and minoring in Women and Gender Studies. She currently serves as the Muslim Public Relations Council President and is deeply passionate about community organizing. Through the Lloyd C. Gardner Fellowship, Amna also conducted research on gendered household dynamics among Syrian refugees as a result of displacement. Amna is excited to join the CAIR team and to combine her passions to advocate for the Muslim community. After Rutgers, she hopes to study abroad before attending law school in order to further develop her interests in international development.

Dareen Qaddoumi
Dareen Qaddoumi is a Master’s student in Montclair State University’s Law and Governance program, where she is completing thesis work on anti-BDS legislation. She graduated in 2020 with a double major in Jurisprudence and Political Science, and a minor in Arabic Studies. Her interests include social justice, traveling, and her three cats: Bubula, Nubbie, and Kitty.

Lamia Rashid
Lamia Rashid is a master’s student enrolled in the Rutgers School of Public Health; She is pursuing her MPH with a concentration in Health Systems and Health Policies. She currently works for AmeriCorp in the Budget Office and has seen first-hand the benefits communities reap when organizations mindfully invest in projects that give back. Additionally, Lamia currently serves as a board member for her masjid Al-Falah where she has always been a strong proponent of youth involvement. Her goal this summer is to help CAIR NJ continue to provide educational and empowering training all over New Jersey for both Muslims and non-Muslims while also defending the voiceless in the Ummah. Lamia is excited for a second term at CAIR NJ and hopes to impact the community in a positive manner through non-profit work!

Maryum Khan
Maryum Khan, junior at Rutgers University’s School of Arts and Sciences/Douglass Residential College ’23, is a Psychology major with minors in Political Science and Biological Sciences. She is involved in a myriad of organizations, ranging from being a Research Assistant at the Social Emotional and Character Development Lab with Dr. Elias and the Social Perception Lab with Dr. Jussim to being on the event planning team for the Muslim Student Association and Event Chair for MPRC to being the Community and Partnerships Chair for the Rutgers chapter of Amnesty International. She acts as Advocacy Intern for the Rutgers chapter of Partners in Health Engage, which furthers the right to health, progressing her desire to bridge public health and medicine and human rights. As the first Youth Development intern at CAIR NJ, Maryum intends on bringing youth across NJ together to know their rights, combat Islamophobia, integrate a better environment for Muslims within and out of school, and to represent Islam, especially when indefatigably fighting for the voices of the oppressed.
