CAIR-NJ Announces Release of Updated Back to School Resource Guide for 2024-25 School Year
(NEWARK, NJ, 9/10/2024) – The New Jersey chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NJ) today announced the release of an updated Back-to-School Resource Guide for public school students and educators in grades K-12.
The 2024-25 school resource guide aims to provide Muslim students and their parents or guardians as well as educators with tools to address a wide range of topics that touch the daily lives of Muslims in classrooms across New Jersey public schools.

The guide includes information on how Muslim students can advocate for themselves in various contexts, including requesting religious accommodations, bullying, and a one-page “know your rights” infographic specifically for students.
Given the ongoing genocide of Palestinians at the hands of the US-backed Israeli military, CAIR-NJ has crafted a guide on how educators can discuss Palestine and Israel in the classroom.
Also today, CAIR-NJ released an updated Educator’s Guide to Islamic Religious Practices, which includes recommendations for educators on how to discuss the tragic events of 9/11 and the Palestinian genocide.

“The 2024-25 Back-to-School Resource Guide aims to empower Muslim students and their families to confidently navigate school environments and address discrimination effectively,” CAIR-NJ’s Communications Manager Aya Elamroussi said. “CAIR-NJ is proud to provide this essential toolkit for both Muslims students and their educators as we work collectively to create a more inclusive and just atmosphere for Muslim students across New Jersey.”
Every school year, CAIR-NJ receives emails, phone calls and incident reports from members of our community who express they’ve faced some sort of discrimination or religious bias in schools.
The resource guides aim to arm parents and students with the necessary knowledge on how they can exercise their entitled rights as Muslims in the U.S.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
